Operation effect of different traffic control strategies under different traffic situations are simulated, so as to select the optimum traffic control strategy for corresponding traffic situation. Meanwhile, this paper proposes an adaptive traffic control strategy selection method based on fuzzy neural network. At last, a simulation is done with this method to offer the region with different traffic control strategies. By comparing the effect of time-variant strategies and the fixed strategies, we come to the conclusion that time-variant strategies are more excellent than the fixed strategies and the adaptive traffic control strategy selection method based on fuzzy neural network is validate and usable.

At the same time, the joining process in Apriori algorithm is still retained until Level-2. The count from Level-1 and Level-2 is used in the modified pheromone formula in Ants Colony Optimization algorithm. No interesting rules are removed from the list even if they are infrequent items in Apriori algorithm. Thus, all of the items are treated equal in this novel technique.

In the ERP system, the IU equipped in vehicle carries out radio communications to the roadside equipment, and ERP Charge is deducted automatically from a contact IC card inserted in the IU. On the other hand, in the public transportation facilities, electronic payment system using a contact-less IC card has been operated since 2002. It is desirable for the convenience of the motorists to unify the payment scheme between the public transportations and the roadside systems. So, we are developing the IU which can also process a contact-less card.

These dimensions include location, timing, duration, sequence and type of activities trips. The purpose of this paper is to develop a method to model and visualize mobile objects. We propose to find an effective method to construct interactive manipulative 3D-GIS software of activity-travel patterns. The methods of 3D geographical data and 3D modeling are also present. A prototype was implemented using the software of Multigen Creator and Vega to analyze GPS-recorded travel data in the city of Changchun, China.

In this paper, we propose new travel time prediction algorithms, which use data fusion to integrate the speed data of different detectors and use neural network to predict the future speed dynamically, to calculate the travel time. Vehicle plate recognition technology is used to collect the real travel time of test section on Beijing third ring freeway to evaluate the algorithms. The results of the experiment show the average prediction error is less than 10%.

Three major parts, respectively the demand analysis, design and application of the system, were described in the paper. The principal functions of the system design are as follows: the confirmation of the incident classification, the real-time incident information display based on integrated GIS map and the automatic generation of incident solution plan by the rule-based expert system, the control of incident management process, real-time incident information dissemination via short message service of mobile phone and Web pages and the automatic generation of management report forms. The system has been formally put in to use since April, 2006 in the management centre of the northern section of NingLian Expressway.

Main features of the system are the 5.8 GHz Active DSRC technology and the On-board Unit accepting multi-use contactless smartcards. These newly-developed state-of-art features will enable the system to work for high speed and free-flow operation on heavily congested roads, realize smooth interoperability among different operators and manufacturers, expand toward other ITS applications, and help the authority take integrated approach to realize effective traffic demand management.

An efficient radio control (MAC: Media Access control) method should be established on the condition of non-synchronous timing in the system. . In this paper, we propose ALOHA with CSMA as a random-access from pedestrian to vehicle for the simplicity of the system. Computer simulations are carried out to evaluate the performances in terms of detection times. Assuming that the packet length is 2ms and pedestrian density is 0.01person/m2, pedestrian within 60m(ALOHA)/80m(CSMA) from vehicle are able to communicated within one second.

In the mo...Lead moreIt is needed to establish a distributed system without an infrastructure for avoidance of traffic accidents between cars and pedestrian. We have shown that a vehicle receiver can detect the pedestrian behind the obstacles and avoid the collision between the tow. In the model of blind spot in roadway, we assumed that a vehicle has an array antenna as a receiver and a pedestrian has a transmitter. First, we have carried out the analysis of radio wave propagation using the ray trace method and then, we have estimated the direction of arrival of radio wave using MUSIC and Unitary-ESPRIT methods. We aimed at calculating which side, right or left of the car, the transmitter is and gripped the basic characteristic of the propagation of the radio wave by presuming the coming wave information, consisting direction presumption and the electric power.

This paper describes the function and method for constructing an integrated platform of traffic management and control in Ningbo. The integrated platform of traffic management and control is a complicated and advanced application system based on many years of work at traffic management infrastructure. The GIS is the core and most sub-applications were build on a GIS platform which included the traffic control system, the traffic police resources management system, the real-time road and traffic information system etc. The traffic police can monitor most of the information related to the traffic management by the integrated platform, if it is necessary, the traffic command can also be transferred by the platform.

Firstly, running conditions for commercial vehicles are analysed in detail. Then, function analysis for the warning device is made. And the design including hardware and software are discussed subsequently. Finally, all the hardware modules are tested, and corresponding experiments for the device are also made. All the results prove that the device can meet the design requirements very well.

Moreover, as ETC(Electronic toll collection) becomes popular, the way of the illegal passing diversifies. Therefore, we developed the new product, ‘integrated enforcement camera’ to regulate them efficiently. It’s high-performance multipurpose enforcement camera. This device integrated some illegal-prevention cameras existed already on toll-way gates. From a technical viewpoint, we worked on improvements of the lightening method for wide-shooting-range to take picture of driver’s face and on expansion of interfaces with some sensors to detect various type of illegal traffic.

We propose a system to support these transportation services using the ITS technologies in a comprehensive way. We have tried to solve four problems by the investigation of the status before the trial operation. There were a wrong process of making a vehicle reservation, impossible to see the operating status of a vehicle, ambiguous record of vehicle usage, and large amount of operations needed to process the actual records. Our system involves an ITS on-board unit to be mounted on welfare vehicles, and an on-board printer. These are connected to the personal computers of business operators through the central server installed at the headquaters of our company,Daihatsu Motor Co.,Ltd. The cellular phone wireless communication network was used as a communication system with the vehicle.

The new GPS film antenna has already been introduced into the market with the feature that it can be stuck on the inside of a windshield. It offers the following two advantages: 1)It has a simpler structure than the conventional 3-dimensional patch antenna. 2)It does not impair the aesthetic appearance of vehicles.These two advantages flow from the antenna’s simple structure, consisting of printed linear patterns on a single-side transparent resin film. The structure has opened up a new world of possibilities for circular polarized antennas, offering a wide variety of applications for vehicular use, including ITS-related products.This paper first discusses basic principles used for this antenna to receive circular polarized waves. Then, it describes some special features and performances of GPS film antenna, and other applications.

Most of them are for the sys...Lead moreIn Urban canyon area, we have conducted evaluation test of Distance-based charging by using GPS technology integrated with Dead Reckoning navigation. Regarding the testing for Distance-based charging with GPS, several reports have been issued. Most of them are for the systems, measuring traveling distance, detection of cordon line and charge calculation are performed by the backend system using map-matching technology. For the distance-based charging, we have developed the proto type system to evaluate the on-board processing for cordon line detection, measuring traveling distance and charge calculation. In this report, we explain our test system and the result of the testing in Urban canyon area. As the results, we have achieved the accuracy for distance measurement with error less than 5 percent and stable results of charging value.

AVI/AEI related technologies are being applied to many fields of agent oriented ITS and most recently it is being applied to the field of collecting vehicle information from many countries. AVI/AEI related technologies are also being applied to cargo transportation agent systems. It is available to link international transportation if the technologies are applied to cargo transportation. This study is one of applying this standard technology to cargo transportation systems and suggests the methods applicable to various currently operational cargo distribution agent systems and the efficiency of the application as an agent system.

In this study, detailed behavior of vehicles approaching small junctions is analyzed to find characteristics of dangerous driving in neighborhood areas, by employing video survey and a drive recorder machine, which can acquire detailed information of speed, acceleration, and braking. In order to develop an advanced ISA system, the author proposed a warning algorithm for stop signs using vehicle speed and driver's behavior at various locations from the junction.

Generally GPS (Global Positioning System) is adopted as the navigation module. Normally the accuracy of GPS data is good enough for public transport navigation. However, when the buses run within the city, especially in the city centre, there will be blocked areas for the GPS signals. In that case, the GPS module cannot give correct location data or even will give totally wrong data. To solve this problem, a solution based on Kalman Filtering, Map-Matching and dynamic right is carried out in this paper. The key technologies are introduced, and also the result of each step is shown. It is proved the solution is accuracy enough and effective to solve this problem.

However, recently the support systems tend to recognize the individual driver’s behavior caused by outside situations and his/her internal condition and adopt its parameter. It is difficult for most of conventional simulators without considering them to evaluate the performance. So, we propose a new simulation model (STREET) switching vehicle motion models based on the cognition and decision of a driver. This paper describes mainly the outline of the novel driver’s decision model in it.

However, conventional simulators using car-following models cannot reproduce a vehicle's complex motion in a variety of traffic situations. We propose a new simulation model switching among various vehicle motion models based on the cognition and decision of a driver. For the first evaluation of the accuracy of the model, calculated longitudinal position of the vehicle for a given decision of the driver was assessed. It resulted in 51% improvement in RMSE of the length of movement of the vehicle.

It builds from work undertaken by the author in developing the evaluation framework for the Auckland Road Pricing Evaluation Study, and on other projects. Key lessons are that: - Early consideration of the evaluation framework is important to ensure that detailed assessment processes are carried out in a consistent and coordinated manner - The desired evaluation criteria will drive the development of transportation, financial and economic modelling approaches, with the transportation model providing the ‘engine’ that nearly all other indicators will be driven from. - Ultimately the evaluation framework has to present decision-makers with clear, consistent and concise information to assess the feasibility and desirability of the different road pricing scheme options. - A combination of qualitative and quantitative measures will be necessary to cover all areas of interest

In this study, a night driving environment and a night vision enhancement system are built on our driving simulator. Consequently, we verify the effectiveness of the existence of the assistance system on the driver's avoidance actions when some pedestrians suddenly rush out in front of them at night driving environment.

However, whether the results are accurate or not, it depends on the factors as real time data collection, procedures of the traffic flow prediction and what kind of strategy used among the dynamic timing computations. This research concentrates on the last factor mentioned above and assumed the prediction results of traffic flow are precise enough. The gene algorithm (GA) is utilized to find out the optimal solution involving the split and phase sequence for signal control. In this study, SYNCHRO is chosen as the reference for evaluation. The timing plans outputted from GA calculations will be the inputs to the SYNCHRO, and then the results of average delay derived by SYNCHRO between GA and its original optimization are comprised. A mimic case is studied with several scenarios. All the results will be described in this paper with details.
